The purpose of this Emergency Response Policy is to establish clear and efficient procedures for The New Day Company, LLC drivers to follow in the event of an emergency. This ensures the safety of our drivers, the public, and the integrity of our operations.

Scope

This policy applies to all employees of The New Day Company, LLC who operate company vehicles or are present on company-related transportation routes.

Procedures

  1. Immediate Response:
    • Assess the situation for immediate danger. If in danger, move to a safe location.
    • If there is any injury, illness, or life-threatening situation, call 911 immediately.
  2. Notification:
    • Notify The New Day Company, LLC dispatch as soon as possible with details of the emergency, including location and nature of the event.
  3. Vehicle Accidents:
    • If involved in an accident, drivers must secure the scene to prevent further accidents, set up warning devices, and exchange necessary information with other parties involved.
    • Complete an accident report form as required by company policy and local laws.
  4. Natural Disasters:
    • Follow local authority instructions.
    • Do not attempt to drive through severely impacted areas without clearance from emergency services.
  5. Vehicle Breakdowns:
    • Activate emergency flashers.
    • If safe, set up warning triangles or flares.
    • Do not attempt repairs if not qualified; wait for roadside assistance.
  6. Hazardous Material Spills:
    • Follow the Hazardous Materials Response Plan and notify appropriate environmental agencies as required.
    • Do not attempt to contain or clean up spills unless trained to do so.
  7. Fire:
    • If a vehicle fire occurs, evacuate immediately and call 911.
    • Do not attempt to extinguish a fire unless it is safe and you are trained in the use of fire extinguishers.
  8. Medical Emergencies:
    • Provide first aid within the scope of your training.
    • Request emergency medical services if required.
